    Originally established in 1895, the Dubuque Brewing & Malting Company was formed by four local brewers, creating a complex designed to produce over 300,000 barrels of beer annually. The plant, encompassing 224,000 sq ft, was considered one of the most modern of its time, second only to those in St. Louis and Milwaukee. Although the company ceased operations in 1915 due to Iowa's prohibition, the property continued to play a significant role in local commerce. Following rumors of Al Capone's involvement during prohibition, the site was utilized by Corn Belt Packing Company, H&W Motor Express, and Dubuque Packing Company, contributing to Dubuque's history in the meat packing industry until the 1980s. Today, approximately 75,000 sq ft of the historic structure remains on a nearly three-acre site at the corner of 30th & Jackson Streets. While a portion of the building was demolished due to instability, the remaining structure and cleared site present a unique development opportunity to preserve an iconic piece of Dubuque's culture and integrate it with a modern mix of commercial and residential space. The property is suitable for mixed-use, breweries, industrial, commercial land, land, and residential income purposes. Additional site cleanup work is in progress by the seller and will be completed this fall.
