Commercial District, C-2 General Business District, and/or C-5 Crafts Commercial District. OWNER: Any person, agent, firm, or corporation having a legal or equitable interest in the property. PARKING LOT: An open area, other than a street, used for the parking of automobiles. PARKING SPACE : A space within a building or private or public parking lot, exclusive of driveways, ramps, columns, office and work areas, for the parking of an automobile. PERMIT: An official document or certificate issued by the City of Gatlinburg Building, Fire, or Planning department that authorizes performance of a specified activity. PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT: A planned residential, commercial or industrial development, professionally designed as a unit, approved by the Gatlinburg Planning Commission and located in those areas zoned for its use. PUBLIC ENTRANCE: An entrance that is not a service entrance or a restricted entrance. PUBLIC WAY: A street, alley, or other parcel of land open to the outside air leading to a street, that has been deeded, dedicated or otherwise permanently appropriated to the public for public sue and which has a clear width and height of not less than ten (10) feet. REGISTERED DESIGN PROFESSIONAL: An individual who is registered or licensed to practice their respective design profession as defined by the statutory requirements of the professional registration laws of the State of Tennessee and/or the City of Gatlinburg in which the project is to be constructed. REHABILITATION CENTER: An establishment where the primary purpose is the rehabilitation of persons. Such services include drug and alcohol rehabilitation, assistance, to emotionally and mentally disturbed persons, and halfway houses for prison parolees and juveniles. REPAIR: The reconstruction, replacement or renewal of any part of an existing building for the purpose of its maintenance or to correct damage. ROOF DECK: The flat or sloped surface constructed on top of the exterior walls of a building or other supports for the purpose of enclosing the story below, or sheltering an area, to protect it from the elements, not including its supporting members or vertical supports. ROOF HEIGHT: The highest most point of the finished roof surface in the case of flat and slightly sloping roofs or to one-half the vertical distance between the uppermost ceiling level and highest most point of the finished roof having a pitch of more than one (1) foot in (4 1⁄2) feet through any 13 cross-section.
