    This stately mansion, once owned by a Traverse City Lumber Baron family, has been transformed into a successful Inn. Originally a four-unit apartment building acquired in 1999, the property underwent a four-year restoration project, updating all mechanical systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, to modern standards. Structural work was minimal, focusing on the front porch and a portion of the roof. The interior design meticulously returned the mansion to its origins, with refinished wood floors, pocket doors, and moldings. Tile floors were cleaned and restored, and original wall coverings were cleaned and restored wherever possible. Local artists recreated lost portions of wall coverings through faux painting techniques. Light fixtures were collected to represent the lighting of the era, and furnishings were curated to match the neoclassical architecture. The Wellington Inn is located in a quiet city neighborhood on the east side of downtown Traverse City, two blocks off Front St, the main business district. It is within walking distance of restaurants, shops, public parks, and paved pedestrian and bicycle trails to Clinch Park beach and the Boardman River. Traverse City is a bustling tourist destination with farm-to-fork restaurants, boutiques, vineyards, beaches, and a hopping nightlife scene. The city is located at the head of the East and West arms of Grand Traverse Bay and borders East Bay, Elmwood, Garfield, and Peninsula townships. The Wellington Inn is a small elegant hotel ready for its next steward.
