Overview

The former 354 Mw Coal Fired Power Plant site is available for rent. This 93.43 +/- acre redevelopment site, formerly an Ameren plant, is located on the east bank of the Illinois River in Meredosia, Illinois, northwest of Jacksonville, in Morgan County. The property features an 800-foot dock line on the Illinois River. The dock and bucket unloader could be adapted for bulk material commodity use. A clam shell bucket unloader, mounted on a river cell, could be renovated and re-used; a spare bucket is provided. USACE permit number 823, issued August 20, 1941, and modified May 17, 1963, permitted the river structures. Permit number 741, issued July 9, 1958, permitted the coal conveyor. High voltage, bulk electrical power is available from Ameren Illinois. Natural gas, Meredosia city water, and sanitary sewers are available. The property offers good truck access to IL Route 67 and Interstates 72 (east-west) and 55 (north-south), and is only 15 miles from I-72 at Exit 46. A Norfolk Southern rail spur is located nearby. The coal plant is closed and will be abated then demolished. The bulk power substations will remain Ameren property and in operation.
