Rim Road CB-115 Parcel C Rancho Sabina DesGeorges, Taos, NM 85717

This 213.98-acre parcel, known as Rancho Sabina DesGeorges (Parcel C), is proposed as a site for environmentally sound and affordable housing development. Located approximately 25 minutes west of Taos and eight minutes from the Taos Regional Airport, the property offers accessibility and seclusion. The site is situated off CB-115, also known as part of West Rim Road, a primary paved roadway. Sunset Boulevard, a residential road intersecting CB-115, is known for its expansive mountain views, including the Sangre de Cristo range. The land has transitioned from the ancestral home of indigenous peoples to a territory of Spain, and later a part of the First Mexican Republic. Following the Mexican-American War, it became a U.S. territory before achieving statehood in 1912. The landscape is dominated by big sagebrush, winterfat, and blue grama grass, which give the mesa its iconic silvery-purple hue. The area serves as a vital corridor for local wildlife. It is common to see mule deer and pronghorn antelope grazing across the flats, while black-tailed jackrabbits and the occasional Greater Roadrunner dart through the brush. Above the nearby Rio Grande Gorge, red-tailed hawks and golden eagles hunt on the thermals, while the surrounding pinon-juniper stands provide cover for elk, mountain lions, bobcats, and American badgers. At dusk, the mesa comes alive with the calls of Pinon Jays and the evening songs of resident coyotes.
