The Old Midland District (OM) provides for new development, revitalization, reuse, and infill development in Midlands core downtown. The intent of this district is to allow for residential, civic, shop-front, and urban workplace development. A broad array of uses is permitted to enable the needs of residents and visitors to be met. Allowed building/lot types in this district are Urban Workplace, Shop-front, Detached House and Civic Building. The development pattern seeks to integrate shops, restaurants, services, work places, civic, educational, and religious facilities in a pedestrian-oriented environment. The Old Midland District serves as the hub of the surrounding neighborhoods and of the broader community. The Old Midland District may be expanded over time to meet the needs of the growing community for downtown facilities and services. Expansion of the Old Midland District shall be contiguous and not separated from the primary district area.
