Upon completion, the building featured 18 apartments, each consisting of 2 bedrooms, a large living room with a gas fireplace, a large foyer, and a formal dining room. The property size is 19432 square feet. Following the declaration of war in 1941 and the construction of a U.S. Army Air Field in Sioux Falls, Mr. Gustafson subdivided the apartments to address the critical housing shortage. Only apartment 302, which served as Mr. Gustafson's residence, remained unchanged.
