Originally known as the ‘Builder’s Exchange Building’ in the 1920s and later as the ‘Terminal Building,’ the Stanley Building was part of the Los Angeles Greyhound Bus Terminal facilities complex from the late 1960s until the early 1990s. The structure is now named in honor of Stanley Hirsh, a Downtown Los Angeles philanthropist, businessman, and Fashion District icon. Designed by Walker and Eisen, also known for their work on the Fine Arts Building and the United Artists Theater, this high rise exemplifies Beaux Arts commercial architecture in Downtown Los Angeles. The building features natural light, high ceilings, and design features intended to offer dynamic spaces for various uses. Currently, the Stanley Building houses creative studios and businesses and has been a hub of commerce and connection for nearly 100 years.
