This state-of-the-art advanced sciences building is driven by the University of Chicago’s transformative science, engineering, and quantum research. The construction features cast-in-place concrete flat slab floors with a floor load of 100 lbs PSF live loading and an 8,000 MIPS vibration velocity limit. Electrical power is provided at 15W/RSF for labs and 6.5W/RSF for offices, with emergency back-up power at 5W/RSF of lab premises. Vivarium access and a fully enclosed loading dock support deliveries with 24/7 building operations. World-class amenities include vibrant retail, including a partnership with LA Fitness, The Lawn outdoor amenities deck with grills, firepits, and views of Lake Michigan, private terraces on every floor, on-grade secure bike storage, an indoor bar and lounge, and an executive boardroom. The building is pursuing U.S. Green Building Council certification. Located in the Hyde Park neighborhood, it offers access to award-winning restaurants, art galleries, shops, and music venues, a walkable streetscape, the future Obama Presidential Center, The Museum Campus South, a short walk to Lake Michigan, 600 acres of green space, and a broad range of campus and neighborhood housing.
