The Hi-Lake Shopping Center, located in the Phillips community, has been a local fixture for over 50 years. The eight-acre property underwent a major repositioning and renovation starting in 2004, which included a new canopy, facade, storefronts, parking lot, and landscaping, as well as the addition of two separate buildings in the outlots along Lake Street. The shopping center was rebuilt in 2020-2021 and now includes a Burlington store. Following significant damage during the civil unrest of late May 2020, where more than half of the shopping center was burned down and declared a total loss, the property was reconstructed. The rebuilt shopping center, which houses many of the previous tenants, was delivered back to tenants for their improvement work in the spring of 2021.
