The historic Biaggi Ranch, situated on the Mendocino coast between Manchester and Elk, encompasses over 1382 acres. The ranch transitions from rolling grassland pasture near sea level to redwood forests at over 1600 feet elevation. The diverse topography includes mountain meadows, spring-fed draws, and building sites offering unobstructed coastal views south to Point Arena's lighthouse, north to Irish Beach, and west across the Pacific. Historically, the ranch supported sheep and dairy stock, with occasional grain crops. Since the 1970s, it has primarily been a beef operation, running between 80 and 100 cows. The ranch's forest has historically provided split rail fencing, railroad ties, shake, lumber, and tanoak bark. Current forestry practices emphasize sustainability, yield, and quality while preserving the ecological integrity of the ranch. The timber stand is estimated to contain over 18 million board feet, roughly split between Redwood and Douglas Fir, with a small amount of White Fir. An NTMP is in place. Numerous streams, including Owl Creek and Alder Creek tributaries, provide habitat for steelhead. The ranch includes two modest homes built in the early 1900s (1200 sq ft and 800 sq ft) that could serve as temporary residences or caretaker's quarters. Two older barns are in working order, providing space for livestock, hay, and storage. The houses are fed by a spring. The ranch is fenced and cross-fenced in parts. The property is approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours from the San Francisco Bay Area. The closest airport is in Little River, 24 miles away, with Sonoma County Airport 2 hours away for commercial flights.
