This historic Carnegie Library building presents a rare mix of architectural presence and preserved interior character. Originally built with a $60,000 grant from the Andrew Carnegie Corporation of New York, the structure features Classical and Baroque influences, including two large Ionic columns, an arched entry with dentil molding, and a “temple of learning” aesthetic. Inside, the upper-level vestibule includes two original murals by Muscogee Nation artist Acee Blue Eagle. The ground floor includes a chapel encircled by 14 stained glass windows and a newly restored massive skylight, helping create a bright, memorable space. Additional notable interior features include two sweeping marble staircases, original wrought iron banisters, an upper-level auditorium, and multi-use rooms previously used as a dance/exercise studio. On-site living quarters are also present, suitable for staff or maintenance personnel.

Located on East Broadway Street in downtown Muskogee, the property reflects its civic roots. It operated as Muskogee’s main public library for 57 years, from 1920 to 1977, making it a meaningful landmark with historical eligibility.
