The 36.72-acre Bison Peak Lodge is located in the Tarryall Creek valley of central Colorado, directly bound on three sides by Pike National Forest. The resort is approximately a 90-minute drive from Denver and Colorado Springs. Year-round access is provided by Park County Road 77. The Tarryall Reservoir State Wildlife Area is a short four-mile drive away. The resort offers hospitality choices ranging from lodge rooms and cabins to teepees, Conestoga wagon cabins, geodome tents, and campsites. Originally constructed in 1940 and 1998, the property has undergone expansion and renovation starting in 2018. The 4,050 square foot Bison Peak Lodge features a guest reception area, a rock fireplace, a commercial grade kitchen, a game room, and a loft library. The Nuche Pavilion event center, newly constructed in 2022, can accommodate up to 100 guests within its 3,478 square feet. It includes a prep kitchen and beverage service area, restrooms, and a covered porch. The resort also offers outdoor fire pits, a walk-in cooler and freezer, game areas, a fishing pond, shower and restroom facilities, and private hiking trails. Second Creek traverses the property, flowing towards Tarryall Creek and filling beaver ponds, one of which is stocked with trout. On-grid electricity has been extended throughout the property, and Starlink provides wi-fi service. Water service is provided by a well permitted for domestic and commercial use. The resort has been granted a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) through Park County, allowing it to operate as a retreat center and commercial campground. Phase I of an expansion can accommodate approximately 20-25 camping teepees and/or platform cabins, with 19 pre-developed sites containing utility extensions. Phase II of the expansion allows for 25 additional luxury teepees and/or platform cabins. The property has hosted weddings, corporate retreats, music venues, and US Olympic teams.
