The new $210 million 5-story Porter Hospital at US 6 & SR 49 is now open with 261 beds and over 1,500 full time employees is 5 miles south. Urschel Laboratories has announced it is moving its 300 employee corporate headquarters to Chesterton in 2015. 6.1 million people visit Porter Co. annually and the Indiana Dunes National Park alone attracts 3 million of those visitors of which 60% are from out of state.
