Overview
Fall River Valley Ranch
Nestled in the Fall River Valley, this 1446-acre ranch offers a blend of water resources and agricultural opportunities. The ranch produces high-quality hay, supported by abundant water for irrigation, and is suitable for year-round cattle raising. A unique feature is the cultivation of wild rice, adding to the ranch's diversified operation. The property also provides hunting and fishing opportunities, complemented by views of Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen. Water is distributed to all fields through flood irrigation, utilizing an underground mainline and return ditch system, supplied by five agricultural wells and springs. The headquarters, centrally located on the ranch, includes cattle working facilities, corrals, an animal barn, hay barns, and a large metal shop, along with several pastures. Two ranch homes offer views, and multiple outbuildings are present. A solar field covers the ranch's power needs, including the homes. Access is convenient via two roads. The ranch features approximately 524 acres planted in a grass hay mix and some alfalfa, with fields cut on different schedules depending on cattle grazing. Approximately 220 acres are in wild rice. 193 acres are in a conservation easement for enhanced habitat, used for cattle grazing and hunting. The ranch currently runs 200 spring calving pairs, 20 replacement heifers, and 5 bulls. The headquarters area spans approximately 10 acres and includes a 3,400 square foot metal shop with concrete floor, an 18,000 square foot hay barn, a 6,400 square foot hay/equipment barn, and a 3,750 square foot animal/hay barn. The main house, located at 800-550 Totten Road, is 1,500 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths. The manager's house, located at 28960 Day Road, is 1,400 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. A ground-mounted, grid-tied 200 KW DC solar field handles the ranch's power needs. The property includes Shasta County parcels totaling 1,291.7 acres, all within the Williamson Act, and a Lassen County parcel of 154.3 acres with direct access on Day Road.
