Overview

Michigan Vacant Land For Sale

This 40-acre parcel is located in north-central Baraga County, in Arvon Township, on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, an area known as "The Heart of Deer Country". The historic areas of Aura and Skanee were settled by Homesteaders in the 1800s and are known for great populations of Whitetail deer that come down from the Huron Mountains to forage in the apple orchards planted by these settlers. The property is minutes away from outdoor recreational opportunities in every direction. It is located approximately 6 miles southwest of The Big Huron River, a top Steelhead destination. The East and West Branches converge just above Big Eric's Bridge, about nine miles before the main river reaches Lake Superior. The West Branch is cold and clear and gets its start in the McCormick Wilderness and supports fish year-round, and has great Brook trout. There are eight waterfalls on this river's system. The Slate River is approximately 6 miles away, and the Ravine River is approximately 5 miles away. The gently cascading Ravine River is a Type 1 Fishing Stream that flows into Lake Superior and has fishing of Atlantic salmon, Brook, Brown and Rainbow trout, Coho and Pink salmon, Lake trout and Splake. Migrating Whitetail deer pass through this area, browse in the many old homestead orchards and fields, and bed down in the lowlands in the nearby area. The southern border of the property adjoins State of Michigan Lands. A one-mile drive to the south provides access to State Forest Lands for walk-in access for hunting, trapping and additional stream fishing on the Silver River. In addition to Whitetail deer, this area is host to other game animals, birds, and waterfowls. There is abundant hunting for beaver, bear, coyote, geese, and rabbits in the area. Lake Superior boating and fishing are approximately 3 miles to Witz Marina, which is located on the beautiful Huron Bay. Local inland lake fishing is available on Roland Lake, approximately 3.5 miles to the south. This lake contains both Brook and Rainbow Trout and has a State-owned public access with a gravel ramp on the north shore. The property has access via a seasonal woods road.
