Overview

Historic Land in Presidio, Texas

This 10-acre property, known as El Povo, holds a significant place in Texas history. It was the site of the U.S. Calvary Post Camp Povo from 1916-1920 and is recognized as one of the oldest communities in the USA. Before its time as Povo, the land was known as the Spanish District La Junta de los Rios, inhabited by Paleo Indians and the Jumano Settlement of Tapacolmes. It also served as the site of a Spanish Mission and witnessed Apache Raids and Indian Pueblos. Cabeza de Vaca traveled through this region. El Povo, originally meaning "The Dust" in Spanish, was later renamed Vado Rojo and then Redford, referring to a red crossing. The property offers a unique opportunity to own a piece of Texas history.
